About the Position.

We are seeking a full-time professional translator proficient in English<->Spanish to join our team for ongoing translation projects. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to accurately translate while maintaining the meaning and context of the source text. We are looking for a translator adept at general document translation as well as template-based documents, capable of delivering high-quality translations within specified deadlines. This role requires excellent writing, communication, and research skills, along with proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro or similar professional PDF editors.

This is an opportunity to work remotely 9:30 hours per day + 30 minutes lunch break (full-time). You must have a computer, high speed internet and an area to work free of background noise.

Schedule:

1. Thu-Mon from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm PST. Break: 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.

2. Thu-Mon from 6:00 pm to 4:00 am PST. Break: 11:00 pm to 11:30 pm.

Hourly rate: USD $6.5

Responsibilities:

· Read through original material and rewrite it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained.

· Translate given documents into the target language.

· Translate given documents into the target language by mirroring the format of the source document.

· Use translation memory tools to ensure consistency of translation within documents and help efficiency.

· Research legal, technical, and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation.

· Retain and develop knowledge on specialist areas of translation.

· Follow various translation-quality standards to ensure legal and ethical obligations to the customer.

· Proofread and edit final translated versions.

· Deliver projects by the agreed-upon deadline.

Qualifications:

Meet at least one of the following criteria:

Has obtained a degree in translation, linguistics, language studies or an equivalent degree that includes significant translation training, from a recognized institution of higher education.
Has obtained a degree in any other field from a recognized institution of higher education and has the equivalent of 2+ years of full-time professional experience in translating.
Has the equivalent of five years of full-time professional experience in translating.

· Translation Competence: Terminology, Semantic accuracy. (Content and Meaning), Appropriate syntax, spelling, punctuation, diacritical marks, and other orthographical conventions, Lexical cohesion and phraseology. Formatting, Target audience and purpose of the target language content.

· Linguistic and textual competence. (Source language and the target language).

· Research, information acquisition, and processing Competence.

· Cultural competence.

· Technical competence.

· Domain competence.

· Knowledge of the translation process, terminology, and technique.

· Familiarity with translation guidelines and standards.

· Convert written materials into a second language.

· Excellent translation, writing, and communication skills.

· Work under tight deadlines.

· Good written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficiency in MS Office Suite

· Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro or similar Professional PDF editor
