Buy Sod, a multi-state agribusiness company with sod farms in the Carolinas, Tennessee Georgia and Florida, and based in Dunn, NC is currently seeking a Bilingual (Spanish and English) speaking individual with the ability to participate in the H2A program March thru November annually. As well as work as an individual contractor in Mexico in the off season vetting potential H2A Field Workers.

Position Responsibilities:

· Position Experience Vetting (as a contract employee in Mexico) per the Buy Sod H2A Vetting Form.

· Recruitment recommendations (as a contract employee in Mexico).

· Assist with orientation and onboarding of H2A Workers.

· Assist with Driver License/Social Security Renewals/Applications.

· Bring forward coaching and corrective actions (to location managers) as they arise.

· Act as backup to Recruitment and Employment Manager with translation for other H2As.

Sod Farming Specific duties:

  • Assist Farm Management in Oversight of Production and Harvest crews and ensure all H2A employees are operating within safety parameters.
  • Ensure that each H2A Field Worker has been properly trained how to safely operate each piece of equipment wearing all required PPE on a daily basis.
  • Ensure each Production and Harvest Crew member under his/her supervision does all pre-start checks (oil, hydraulic, water, clean air filters, etc.) and any necessary preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure daily that all Production and Harvest equipment is calibrated, functioning properly and working at optimum conditions and work with Farm Mechanic and vendor equipment technicians to troubleshoot any issues.
  • Support Farm Management with onsite investigations accidents/incidents/violations involving H2A staff.
  • Regularly inspect and implement quality control measures across all production departments.
  • Support Farm Management with accurate and timely inventories are submitted to Sod Central when/as requested.
  • Support Farm Management in executing planting plan in a manner that meets Buy Sod standards.
  • Work with Farm Mechanics on issues concerning safety and condition of all equipment and escalate issues to Farm Management.

Position Requirements:

· Must have the ability to work in the Federal H2A Program.

· Must have the ability to fluently speak Spanish and English.

· Prior experience working as an Equipment Operator, preferably in sod, in the H2A Program in the USA required.

· Prior experience managing sod farming Equipment Operators preferred.

· Must demonstrate the ability to be a team player and build positive working relationships with others.

· Ability to be physically/consistently present for critical onsite collaboration.

· Ability to discern what issues need to be brought to upper management.

· Experience with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) suite and the ability to learn company software programs is required.

· Must be able to handle multiple tasks and perform well under pressure of deadlines.

· Must be highly motivated and efficient with the ability to work independently.

Position Located in: Mexico (November through February), Dunn, NC (March through November)
