I loved coming to work and helping all kinds of customers via phone, email or webx sessions. Our team was the first team to reach 95% customer satisfaction! My manager let me train new hires on Network Technologies and the Precision Workstation 390, 490 and 690 when they came out. I enjoyed how they bought you lunch if you worked a half your lunch hour, plus you got OT. On paid holidays they gave you the option to work and earn double time. Dellserv (main ticketing app) was easy to use and easy to dispatch parts, look up customers and provide worldclass tech support. I loved my job and loved helping Dells customers.

Pros

Great culture, great training, wonderful products and warranties.

Contras

They make examples of people, no second chances. Some managers are hypocritical, favortism.

Great place to work and good benefits

Research and respond to Sales Engineers questions about any and all products. Learned a little to a lot about all of the company's products. Most of management was hands-off, little supervision required but where there when issues occurred. The workplace was a team/community environment. The hardest part of the job was trying to find answers to questions that information was not documented or easy to find. Researching and answering questions that were not documented or easy to find.

Talk with customers, diagnosis of issues, determine parts availability. Collect several possible parts that could cause symptoms then drive to customer location,

Paid poorly; treated poorly

Poor managers who had little care for anything other than meeting their own quotas. Employees treated like numbers not human beings. Benefits and leave were bare minimum allowable.

Dell is okay

If you like a call center, then this is for you. I really didn't like it and it can get stressful at times. I would just be careful if I was you because sometimes they hate it when you take too long on a call.

A productive work environment

A productive work environment where you learn about products and services the company provides to its customers. The co-workers and support staff give their all to bring beginning to end customer service to its clients. The challenging part of the position is time management customers and work demands. The pleasing part is being able to collaborate with peers on clients technical issues.

Data General was a wonderful company that always worked with employees on training, time off to create full life balance. EMC followed for the most part but seemed to be more into company profits.

Great place to work with lots of nice amenities .

Working at Dell was fun, it was a laid back atmosphere for the most part as long as you were getting your work done. It could be stressful at times, especially in chat support where you had to handle two chats at a time on a consistent basis. Once you add in the amount of follow up needed on each customer account and documentation of every single email inbound and outbound that needed to be logged, it could be difficult at times.
