It depend on where you work/

My co-workers were nice after the change over from EMC to DELLEMC everything went down hill with management they got so involved that we had to call a manager for every little thing. we couldn't do our jobs without management's micro managing and they aren't in the field so they don't understand what happens. after working 6pm-3am mon-fri for 7 years, I wanted to transfer to a different state but that didn't happen. a typical say is give or take 13 hrs. but you only get paid for 9 and if you work overtime they shorten your shift within the week so you don't get paid the OT hrs. they do dive you 3 month paternity leave if your male or female so that's a plus.

Company has a harsh human error policy

Company will provide competitive rates and competitive benefits but also is trying to re-work how the customer service engineer position is performed after the EMC merger. The company appears to no be familiar with how much risk the position contains. Room for error is very small and can result in lost of job very quickly resulting in a high stress position.

stressful

very stressful job and a lot of travel. a lot multi task and a lo of admin work. Job involves a lot daily visits to customer locations to install or do maintenance on dell-emc products all over south florida.

Excellent Field Service Environment

The actual last service technician job was with CES. Indeed defaulted to Dell and I couldn't change it. Repaired multiple types of equipment for multiple companies.

It's a good change of environment everyday because all calls in the field are not at the same place........Hands-on work that takes a lot of patience........As an independent contractor I work by myself to get all jobs completed.......I enjoy this type of work because I am sometimes like a therapist as well as a repair technician to many clients.........

• Provides call taking and site specific support (DTS and Legacy). • Provides desk-side support including software, hardware and networking support for desktops, laptops and servers • Prepare and present performance / incident reports to the Service Delivery Manager and to the customer • Performs installs, moves, adds and changes as required • Tests and certifies PCs, networks, servers and client approved applications • Provides advanced troubleshooting capabilities on software and hardware problems including DTS, legacy systems and interconnectivity problems • Installs and maintains enterprise servers, mainframe, high-end networking and complex product configurations, servers, telecommunications equipment, storage-subsystems and drives, high-end document processing equipment, peripherals and PCs • Takes responsibility for follow-up services or problem escalation • Maintains a high degree of professionalism in actions, demeanor and dress • Ensures customer satisfaction throughout the service delivery transaction
